Things have been vaguely quiet here for a month or so, as we’ve been concentrating on forging our new recordings into sexy shape. Five new songs are starting to come together, and will be ready for ears in January. We’ve also been handcuffed to synthesisers writing and perfecting our new set, ready for our very first tour of Europe, which begins in February. We have a mammoth fourteen new tunes to be performing, some of them make your head shake, some of them make your head nod. If you’re near any of the venues, come say “hallo,” and see which axis your head oscillates on.

In other news, we’ve finished making a song about 1999. I was trying to find out what Ben had been up to in 1999, for lyrical inspiration, and it soon became clear that the only memory he has of that year was playing Golden Eye on the N-64. Literally, the only memory of an entire year. Actually, it got me thinking that, although we have countless moments from the past that we can remember, it’s actually quite difficult to pin-point what happened in what year- it’s as if we lose chronological sense of our pasts, and everything we’ve ever done swiftly becomes some kind of amorphous memory smoothie. I suppose this is heightened/lessened by the amount of weed one smokes. Anyway, we now may be the first band that sings about Golden Eye, with heart and passion. MAYBE.

Here is a bad ass tour poster I conjured up with my own two hands:

…you should probably have a massive 12ft map in your living room that takes up your whole wall. My girlfriend got me the only birthday present that is better than a massive map of the earth: a mecha-massive map of the earth.

I spent most of my birthday putting it up, and now the TV never gets switch on as you can sit on the sofa and stare at the countries, constantly repeating such hot lines as:

“Fuck, Russia’s massive.”

“The capital of Burkina Faso is awesome.”

“Man I really want to go visit ‘x’”

“The UK own far too many random islands in the pacific.”

The next step is to get a map of the moon for the bedroom, I can’t help thinking.
